European significance: thematic site of twelve medieval churches decorated with figural paintings, the paintings are documents of the application of the progressive painting style of the Italian fresco technique also in transalpine countries, created during the medieval boom of Gemer mining, represent the international character of European art and lively cultural contacts across Europa in the Gothic period, the sample of sites show that the European art was not only received by wealthy families or rich towns, but also used for the decoration of rural churches

European Heritage Label: "Three Brothers" (Latvia)

Year: 2019
European significance: complex of three houses in Riga built between the 15th and 17th centuries, characteristic of dwelling houses found in Hanseatic towns in the Baltic Region, during the Soviet occupation of Latvia the complex was one of the first sites to be restored, pivotal role of the site in heritage preservation in Latvia, which was instrumental in building resistance to the destruction of Latvian culture during the Soviet occupation and for sustaining the link with Europe and the value of freedom during this period
